The MFA degree in Design, Art, and Performance has six Theatre majors/concentrations: Theatre/Acting, Theatre/Costume Design, Theatre/Lighting Design, Theatre/Scenic Design, Theatre/Sound Design, Theatre/Technolgy. MFA applicants will be expected to hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or university of recognized standing prior to registration as a graduate student. MFA applicants should have achieved a 3.0 grade point index or higher for the baccalaureate degree or have other academic indices indicating superior performance.

The Master of Fine Arts degree program in the Department of Art and Design at Purdue University provides a dynamic interdisciplinary environment in which students intensively develop and refine their artistic and/or design aesthetic under the mentorship of actively engaged artists and designers. The three-year curriculum combines studio research, theory, and art/design history courses, allowing students to form study plans according to their specific needs.

*Admission to the graduate programs in Art Education is restricted. Those interested in applying for an MA or Ph.D. in Art Education should first contact the Director of A&D Graduate Program for permission to apply.
